HKS LA Clutch (Light Action) combines accurate high level power transfer from engine to transmission while offering easy to use clutch feel which is particularly noticeable when the clutch is half engaged.
Suitable for use on the streets or for sports use, LA Clutch is a single plate clutch which can support approximately 450ps (*1).
HKS LA Clutch is a complete set including clutch disc, cover and flywheel. The newly designed "MG Composite disc" developed to reduce juddering to enable the same driving feel as the stock clutch, yet with the capabilities of handling more power. The disc damper also reduces impact and strain on drive train parts.

A new metal/glass fiber face material has allowed a high level of heat resistance which is less likely to "fade."

Lightweight Flywheel, Lightweight Cover for improved acceleration and throttle response.
Lightweight flywheel reduces rotating mass for improved throttle response. Cover is made from a lightweight grade of aluminum meaning that the whole clutch assembly is approximately 80% (For Lancer Evolution) of stock clutch assembly.

Designed to be a simple bolt on fit even for pull type clutches, LA clutches come complete with disc, cover and flywheel for ease of fitting and peace of mind.
(Release bearing change is recommended, lancer evolution models would involve some suspension component removal requiring new split pins)
"Strap Drive" feature and Disc Damper for transmission protection and quiet operation
"Strap Drive" allows for clean disengagement and high clutch input response. Disc damper reduces gear noise and protects transmission from impact torque.
Optimized Cover for light pedal pressure
By reviewing and optimizing cover design, pedal feel is very similar to that of a stock clutch which is just not achievable through clutch kits that changes only the cover and disc. (Pedal weight will differ for each application)

Despite the support of approximately 700ps, the main concept for the Twin Plate LA Clutch remains the same. Using "MG Composite Discs" to reduce judder and achieve better driving feel compare to stock clutch. Disc dampers are used to reduce gear noise and protect the transmission from shock torque. The LA Twin also has a "Pivot Ring" within the pressure plate to offer partial engagement like no other twin plate clutch.
Lightweight Cover and Redesigned Diaphragm Spring
Normally, high capacity clutches come heavy pedal feel. HKS have insisted on a diaphragm spring design and used its properties to achieve a pedal which is easy to use on the street but also has a positive feel for accurate control even on the circuit. Cover is made from high strength forged aluminum.
8.5 Inch "MG Composite Disc" with Damper
A newly designed 8.5 inch disc is used to support high torque levels. Adding a damper reduces gear noise and protects the power train from sudden shocks and damage. A stable frictional coefficient makes the clutch easier to use for reducing judder.
Accurate Disengagement and Friction/ Wear Balance from "Lifting Plate"
Lifting plates attached to the center plate ensures that the clutch disc remains center when disengaged. This extends clutch disc life and also reduces the noise that is heard on multi plate clutches.
"Pivot Ring" for Superior Semi Engaged Clutch Feel
A low strength ring shaped spring on the pressure plate (pivot ring) increases the semi engaged zone of the clutch. This gives a much smoother driving feel which lacks on high capacity clutches
"Lightweight Flywheel" for Improved Response
An ideal flywheel weight for each vehicle is calculated and tested in order to reduce the weight for improving response but not to make it too light that the vehicle becomes uncomfortable to drive. The overall weight of the kit is lighter than that of stock clutch.
Precautions for Use
- "Allowable Range" is the range of engine torque which is allowable unless the clutch is overheated by intentional clutch semi-engagement.
- "Conditional Allowable Range" is the range slippage may occur due to rough handling, kickback from tires, components’ distortion.
- Range beyond Allowable Range" is the range that slippage occurs when a clutch is being engaged under high RPM.
