Q: My EVC overboosts regardless at whatever I have it set at.
A:
- Insure that the hose connections are exactly the way they are described in the instruction manual provided by HKS USA. If ports 2 and 3 are crossed or reversed from the EVC stepping motor, the vehicle will overboost.
- Check the switch position of the EVC head unit. On the rear of the EVC head unit there is a switch (SW-PO). If your vehicle is using an internal-type wastegate, the EVC head unit must be switched to the SW (Swing valve) position. If your vehicle is using an external-type wastegate, the head unit must be switched to the PO (poppet) position.
- If you ran the harness from the head unit to the stepping motor through the vehicle's firewall and disconnected the wires from the plug in harness, make sure that the wires are solidly reconnected and in the correct location on the harness.
- Reset the EVC according to the instructions in the EVC set up manual. EVC's have flash memory to retain settings even if power is disconnected. When making changes to turbo related components (turbos, wastegates, Intercoolers, etc), resetting the EVC is recommended as these changes change the boost characteristics.
